Failure

Why do some people feel like it is the end of the world when they dont do as well as they should on something, or things just dont go their way? Why do they feel like if something doesn't happen perfectly, the world will fall apart? What would happen if everyone succeeded and never failed? As bad and as dismal as it sounds, failure is part of life.
People look at failure as if it were a bad thing all the time; and of course, most of the time, failing is a bad thing. Nobody ever wants to fail at anything, their goal is to succeed and do well at the task at hand. But sometimes, failing is necessary, and can end up helping you.
Now, obviously, humans are not perfect. We cannot be perfect, it is impossible; so things are going to go wrong. But good things can happen from things not happening as expected. Probably the biggest beneficial outcome is knowledge. when things go unexpectedly, most of the time, we find out what went wrong. Although the outcome was unwanted, we learn from mistakes and know what not to do next time. When Thomas Edison was working on the lightbulb, and was having great difficulty, he said, "We now know a thousand ways not to build a light bulb." Every time he failed, he changed what he did and eventually found a successfull, efficient formula to create a lightbulb. The same thing applies to everyone and everything else. It can help you become better at what you are doing. Failing can be helpful as long as you do not make the same mistake twice.

Guilt

The pain of guilt is a horrible feeling. It's the wishing with all of your heart for the chance to go back and do something over again, or fix it however possible. I am pretty positive that everyone has experienced guilt in some way or another during their life; and if not yet, it will most likely happen.
Personally, I have felt guilt on many occasions. Both for things I have done and for things I have said. Luckily, I have not had to deal with being isolated from anyone because of it, although I know of people who have suffered from that.
The feeling of guilt is almost impossible to escape. It is constantly on your mind, and is almost physically painful. The best way to deal with extreme guilt, I believe, is to do what you can to make it right, or if it something in the past that cannot be fixed, move on. There is no sense in living in the past. What is done is done, and as long as it has not effected the present, you should do everything you can to move on.

How Technology Effects Our Lives

Apparently technological advances in our society double every two years. Personally, that amazes me. Our parents and grandparents, or mine at least, always tell me how our generation is so spoiled by technology, and after seeing the youtube video about how technology has advanced, I know that they are right. The technological breakthroughs in just the past decade is amazing. Cell phones, computers, mp3 players and other things have come such a far way. Ten years ago, nearly nobody had a cell phone, and the ones people did have were massive. Today, it would probably be accurate to say that nearly 97% of people have cell phones. And not only do the cell phones make phone calls; no, they are mp3 players, cameras, and basically computers stuffed into small sleek bodies that are barely visable when in ones pocket. Another thing is that almost any information that anyone would ever need is all at your fingertips. Thanks to search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo, Dogpile, and others, all you have to do is type in a key word, push enter, and thousands of results are in front of you. The amount of information that is available is uncomprehendable.
This ridiculous amount of information that is open to everyone should be taken advantage of. Students, teachers, or anyone who values education should be using the internet and technology to learn. Not only should we use the information on the internet to learn, we should be learning how computers and other technological devices work and operate. If it is true that technology doubles every two years, it is important that we understand how it works. Technology is our future. The time will come when technology will control nearly everything we do; even more than it does now! Advances have been made in artificial intelligence, and computers will be able to have a mind of their own and think for themselves. This is a scary thought, but it will most likely happen in our lifetimes. It is important that we have a good understanding of this technology so that we will be able to easily use it and advance upon it. It is also important that we keep up with the rest of the world technologically. The United States is the greatest nation ever to exist, and it is important that we are up to date in technology so that we can continue to have an edge over other countries and remain the great power that we are. Also, technology is extremely important to keep us safe. If our nation is not up to date technologically, we are at risk of being attacked with no way to defend ourselves. Most likely, our future jobs will require us to use, create, or advance on technology.
Technology does, and will continue to enter into every one of our every day lives in some way or another. Because of this, I find it very important for us to study and understand how to use different kinds of technology, and how it works.
